4am!
Just got home from the bar..
Tired and not feeling too good....
Anyway.. Covering yesterday and today...
Yesterday was a free day... Just met up with Julia and Soo as promised.. to help Julia with picking out a pair of glasses... My Sunglass Hut experience came in handy ;D. Picked out a rather cute pair for Julia.
They all looked the same!
We then had dinner... at the nicest Kalgooksoo places I've ever been to... Best chicken and best noodle soup + generous servings.
Troublemaker Soo's hand
MMMMmmmm
Altogether... $4.50 each person for ALL that.
My dorm notice for cafeteria food discount.
After dinner and a short break at the dorm.. We went to a Chicken Hof - a bar-like restaurant where you get fried chicken + beer + soju for cheap..
They ordered chicken and alcohol.. all paid $7ish and drank quite a bit..
Eero with a mandarin in his mouth.
After that... they went to Karaoke whilst Lyna and I went back to the dorms because we were quite tired.. So we watched Supernatural and almost fell asleep after 1 and a half episodes.. And then we called it a night.

CONGRATS ON YOUR BAPTISM PEITING, WENNIE AND VIVIAN !!
Next morning... rainy, dull, sad morning..
Didn't do anything all day..... So here are pictures of what I ate today.
Soba + Okonomiyaki topping. A gift from my room mate =D. Lunch.
BEST.
With Onigiri.
My new Head and Shoulders Apple shampoo ;D.
Dinner. Wooooo. Healthy right? =D...
After that.......... I went to a bar... with Eero, Julia, Nicole and Lyna...
A lot of laughs and good times..... I didn't drink excessively but enough to get me high... I was still in 90% control so that's fine... I just fell asleep as I was writing this... And I feel like I've forgotten everything LOL.
They had good dumplings though.
1 Jug of Lemon Soju, 500cc of beer, a large fruit platter and a pot of dumplings = $9 altogether. SICK.
Anyway... I'm going to sleep now..
Another lonely trip to Church tomorrow... =[
On another note:
Watched a documentary today on South Korea, Plastic surgery and K-pop..
As you may know.. South Korea is the biggest Plastic Surgery consumer in the world... People from other parts of the world actually come here to get their face done and what not..
It's most common in the younger generation, but more and more adults are growing supportive towards it... Some parents pay for double eyelid surgery for their children's graduation gift and yeah...
In the documentary, the reporter was invited to witness what goes on during a surgery... Eyelids cut and stitched up... Cartilage taken from your ear and planted in your nose... Blood everywhere... Patients moaning in pain even though they are asleep... Not a pretty procedure..
Indeed, this city is highly attentive to looks. If you don't look good, don't expect to be popular. Every one wants to be pretty and be aesthetically appealing. Plastic surgery is just an avenue to boost one's confidence. But I think it's more than that... When you take into account that people get double eyelid surgery as often as people go to the dentist, you begin to realise the extent some people go to look good. There was a young lady who kept going back to Korea to get botox injections just to preserve her anti-wrinkle skin... Her nose and eyes looking outrageously unnatural as well.
Be careful what you say to a Korean... If you tell them that they are pretty because they uniquely don't look like a foreigner, it is quite offensive... because they want the opposite....
They find their beauty in looking like a foreigner - high nose, big eyes, double eyelids, etc...
K-pop is a 3billion dollar industry and the audience is huge. Young people look up to these celebrities and want to be like them.. or better. For that reason, plastic surgery and $$$ spent on looking good become highly important to them. Hollywood and an ongoing Westernisation of Korea isn't helping either...
Where do you draw the line between acceptable plastic surgery and morally questionable consumption?
I think it's the idolatry factor.. If looking good is your utmost priority.. I believe it is wrong - where some keep coming back to get surgery all over their face.. even though there was nothing clinically wrong to begin with. Some girls get plastic surgery just because their boyfriends broke up with them... Quite extreme huh...
If you had a facial defect that hindered a facial function, I think that is where it becomes acceptable.
It's the same as dental braces... People get braces not only because it looks better... It also provides better dental health.
Plastic surgery is a touchy topic and definitely not often discussed.
I'm not sure if it's because of a sensitivity issue.. or that it's so common people see it like a dental check up... Interesting topic but it still makes me somewhat sad...
3 Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. 4 Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.
