departure

so today was the day i left the comfort of sydney. i am now in Wangshimni, a small suburb within this huge city called Seoul.... it is scary in a way that i am nowhere near familiar with this place, language, culture, people, etc... scary scary... but for some strange reason, my heart is at peace.

so... woke up at 5.40am, after a 3 hour sleep... rushed out of the house and everything and managed to get to the airport JUST when the check-in opened.. WOOOOoo. i then had brekkie with the family... i had a hungry jacks burger just in case they didnt hav hungry jacks in Korea... MUHHHHH.

after brekkie.. we walkd over to the departure gate... said our goodbyes, hugs, etc... and BAM. immigration, customs, etc... it was the first time i had to go through these processes alone...
1) indonesia was always with parents or siblings
2) america was with parents
3) gold coast was with friends

..mm i got frisked for drugs. WOOHOO!!

the first thing i did on the plane - read the plane letters i got from friends =]
i didn't cry or anything (cos im a big man like that)... but i did smile a lot and it gave me the extra push i needed to do this exchange thing properly.. and it also makes me wanna go back sooner HAHA.
thanks for the bday letter(s) those who wrote me happy birthday.. LOL.

first meal on the plane was bibimbap... i didn't take a picture of it but it was nice! one of the best plane food ive tasted =]

i had a chat with the two guys sitting next to me.. they are visitting Korea for a friend's wedding! compared to my one year stay, they are only staying one week... notsureifjealous...

second meal was pork and rice.. it was quite nice!!! the meat wasn't stringy or anything.. it was quite tender and juicy. WOOO. yeah that's my screen below.. watched Avengers, Johnny English, some documentaries and YEUH.

i slept quite a bit on the plane (blame the 3 hour sleep), so the 10 hour flight went by very quickly...
next thing i knew.. i've arrived in Incheon International Airport with the sunset just behind us.

i am now in my little room in a hostel/apartment kinda place... its very cosy and just what i wanted.. mayb except for the shared bathrooms... but yeah watever.. it's only for 6 days. =]

God is and always has been in control of everything here. i arrived safely without any problems because He is graceful. my gratitude remains with Him and not in my own power.

it's a new day tomorrow in a new world. but we're all still under the same sky and under the same God. as long as those two don't change, my response to daily life won't.

Thankful: Arriving safely, no problems with baggage, customs, etc..

Prayerful: Courage to step outside of my comfort zone.

Dangers: Must be careful with the friends I make from now on... I can already see the potential dangers of drunkenness and 'misconduct'.
